Laura & Brandon got married on the most perfect day in Windsor, Ontario. They are two of the most genuinely nice people you’ll ever meet and when we first met we clicked with them immediately. It’s so important that you have a connection with your wedding photographers; we spend the most time with you out of anyone else on your wedding day. We love you Laura & Brandon, and we’re so happy you picked us to document your love story.
BOY MEETS GIRL
We actually met when we were kids because our older sisters were friends, but we didn’t start dating until twelve years later, after reconnecting over work!
BOY FALLS IN LOVE WITH GIRL AND PROPOSES
We were living in Malawi at the time, and we spent every Saturday playing beach volleyball at a really lovely lodge. We had always wanted to go to the fancy part of the lodge for dinner, and we decided that we would go to celebrate our last night in Malawi. When we arrived, Brandon suggested we take a walk to watch our last sunset, and once we were in a beautiful spot just the two of us, he proposed. When we arrived at the lodge for dinner there were roses, champagne and candles waiting for us in a private section of the restaurant, Brandon surprised me at another restaurant where our friends were waiting for us and had set up an engagement party! They had also filled our apartment with more candles, flowers and champagne before we returned that evening. When we arrived back in Canada, a few days later, I was surprised by our families, who were waiting together at a cottage for a celebratory weekend.
LAURA’S THOUGHTS LEADING UP TO THE WEDDING
I think we were really focused on how excited we were that so many people we loved, from so many different places were all going to be in one room with each other.
VENUE & LOCATION
We grew up going to the same church so our ceremony decision was really easy. It’s also the church that Brandon’s parents got married in! I think the decision we had the most fun with, was going to Muscedere Vineyards in-between our ceremony and reception. It was kind of a last minute decision, but it ended up being a big highlight of the day. We really wanted to have our reception at one of the vineyards, but our guest list just didn’t make that possible. We were both so happy that we still got to enjoy a vineyard on our day together and as a huge bonus, our family, wedding party and their partners got to eat pizza and drink wine in a lovely setting while we took our photos!
LAURA & BRANDON’S FAVOURITE MOMENTS
When we finally got to see each other at the end of the aisle, our family and friends sitting and eating together at Muscedere, driving around with our wedding party, the very touching speeches and how much fun we had dancing!
LAURA & BRANDON’S FAVOURITE DETAILS
Brandon’s mom handmade most of our wedding decor, and it was definitely the highlight. We really tried to put a lot of thought into our details. We placed a sprig of Rosemary on everyone’s plate to honour the memory my mom, Rosemary. We had stations around the hall that had food and/or drinks from places in the world that are special to us.
WHY LAURA & BRANDON CHOSE US TO PHOTOGRAPH THEIR LOVE STORY
We LOVED your vibe as people and your photos were just 100% the feel we were going for. We were super honest about not wanting a lot of posed photos, and not only were you super accommodating of this ask, but you put so much effort into making the posed family photos set up in a beautiful way, that now they are my favourites!
You are both just really genuine and the focus was always about capturing our relationship. You didn’t encourage us to do anything that didn’t feel unnatural, and I think as a result our personalities and our connection to each other really shines through in our photos. Which is the greatest gift!
